Depression and anxiety have been an increasingly powerful thing in my life over the past few years to the points it’s really controlled every aspect of me to my utter disappointment. Making everything a harden tasks which is why I was very skeptical about reiki shares not just because I had no idea what it was or what it involved but because it was a room full of people I didn’t know and couldn’t comprehend what was going to happen. There’s also the fact I didn’t believe this could help even in the slightest. For many people like me the very thought of this will completely put them off the idea as they’ll believe it’ll be worse than any other kind of a nightmare. But of course, I pushed myself to it anyway in support of family.
So over the last few months I have been going to a new event on the first Friday of every month, an event of relaxation, meditation and reiki. It’s a reiki share hosted by Sandra Dawson and Elaine Mitchel, for everyone who doesn’t know because I didn’t have a clue what it was when I first heard of it, it’s a event where reiki beginners, masters and people who have never heard of it before can come together to share energies within the circle learn of different ways to meditate and share reiki which is healing energy that can be done by touch or hovering over the skin . It’s a safe and secure space to relax and meditate to reenergise our positivity and expel any negative energy from the week / month before.
Reiki Share 1 – Friday 2nd November
The first reiki share session was on Friday 2nd November, during this session we discussed and studied the healing energy. Discussing that it’s something everyone can use especially for self healing, this was put in to practice towards the end of the session where we paired off and practised bringing this healing energy to our hands. We also spoke about what reiki is and where it has come from. After this session I really felt a little bit more relaxed than I did when I first entered the Karma Hub as this environment during these session is really soothing and powerful.
Reiki Share 2 – Friday 7th December
On Friday 7th December, during this session we studied Chakras and how to use reiki to open and cleanse them. Each Chakra is related with a colour and specific body part. When cleansing the Chakras each one can improve both mental and physical problems. These can be done through a simple meditation / visualation that Sandra and Elaine took us through on the night. This was one of my favourite ones due because I could see every colour of the chakras going through my body and spilling out at the top to shower me in new cleansed energy improving me both emotionally and physically.
“These centres are situated roughly down the centre of the body, when open and allowing energy to flow through we enjoy a feeling of good health, when any are blocked then that is when illness and pain occur. It isn’t just our physical well being that these affect but our minds too.
The Root Chakra – Is associated with the colour red and is situated at the base of the spine.
The Sacral Chakra – This chakra is associated with the colour orange and is situated just below the tummy button.
The Solar Plexus- is the third of the lower chakras and is situated just above the tummy button associated with the colour yellow,
The Heart Chakra is in the centre of the chakras and is associated with the colour green.
The Throat Chakra is associated with the colour Blue
The Third Eye is located in the centre of the brow. Its colour connection is Indigo (purple)
The Crown Chakra is at the top of the head. The colour which I associates with this chakra is pure white but can also be violet” – Sandra Dawson – Reiki Practioner
Reiki Share 3 – Friday 4th January 2019
To be completely honest I wasn’t really feeling the whole spiritual, meditation and quiet room for reflection on Friday, I didn’t really feel like being social or to sit quietly because my head was racing and I thought I wouldn’t be able to concentrate on meditation properly (if you need to concentrate at all) but I went ahead anyway. It’s extremely hard to hide the ‘bad ‘ days and I tend to expel an incredibly amount of negative energy whenever I’m in this mood simply because Im trying so hard not to cry every ten seconds.
However stepping into the Karma Hub and breathing in every ounce of sage really changed the energy around me from negative and fed up to slowly being able to release every ‘ugh’ one breath at a time. Once the first meditation was completed the atmosphere in the room really began to change for me, instead of wishing for it all to be over it was the sudden time has stopped and honestly have nothing worth worrying about at this very moment. In the session we discussed new year, new me and excelling negative energies. Focused on self-healing due to it being the new year really focusing on ourselves to bring out new energy with fantastic meditations and visualisations.
